Stockdale officials wrestle over higher sewage and gas charges for inside and outside city limits to offset deficits. A base charge plus per thousand gallon rates for RV parks are on the table, with a public hearing planned before adopting new rates.
Jennifer Moezygemba filed a Level Three Appeal over a 2011 field trip. The La Vernia Independent School District board met July 1 in executive session to address the grievance. Superintendent Dr. Tom Harvey noted the discussion was lengthy and the district later reimbursed grant funds.
Trustees approved staffing changes after a July 10 special meeting. Elizabeth Clancy-Hunati was named to fill an unexpired board term. Brandi Luna and Thomas Mayfield were hired as teachers. Mayfield will also coach football track and basketball. Jessica Poth was hired as a pre teacher for a new full day program.
Stockdale Independent School District increases paid lunch prices by five cents per meal starting next school year after a July 9 board meeting. Elementary lunches rise to 2.05 and junior high/high school to 2.30. Breakfast stays free. The board also hired two teachers to fill vacancies.
