Disposal well proposal raises Stockdale concerns
Stockdale residents and officials weigh the impact of Coastal Plains Disposal’s planned salt water injection well 2.3 miles north of Stockdale on CR 417. The plan targets depths 5 400 to 7 000 feet, with 78 percent of disposal permits approved by the railroad commission. Concerns include aquifer contamination of the Carrizon Wilcox, floodplain runoff into Cibolo Creek, traffic from an expanded 140 to 240 truck fleet, property devaluation, and the need for best available technology. The council will address these at the July 18 hearing and also discussed emergency services district formation and tax proposals.
