May Irene Hougland died January 9 2001 in Sutherland Springs at 75 born January 5 1925 in Fort Scott Kansas formerly of Holliston Massachusetts resident of Sutherland Springs 35 years. Survived by daughters Phyllis Malone and Sharon Rice son Ronnie Hoagland six grandchildren. Funeral January 13 at 4 PM at First Baptist Church officiated by Revs Schlichter Jennings. Interment Sutherland Springs Cemetery.

Jerome S Bednarz a resident of Karnes City died Sunday January 14 2001 at age 96 years 11 months 8 days He served in the US Army as a cook in World War II and later worked as a painter He was a member of St Cornelius Catholic Church in Karnes City A rosary was recited January 15 and funeral held January 16 at St Cornelius with burial at Panna Maria Cemetery He is survived by brothers Clem and Conrad Bednarz sisters Sylvia Dugi and Mary Olenick along with several nieces and nephews.
