Background checks for Texas family child care providers
The state will require background checks for caregivers who house and care for three or fewer unrelated children. Providers must be listed with the state by January 1 to avoid illegality and possible fines up to $2,000 or six months in jail. Parents should verify listings with regional Child Care Licensing offices.
