Texas Supreme Court abortion ban challenge heard
The Texas Supreme Court heard oral arguments over whether medical exceptions to the abortion ban are clearly written to protect pregnant women with health risks. Plaintiffs, including women who faced sepsis and those who traveled for abortions of nonviable pregnancies, argue the law’s language is vague and doctors withhold abortions. The state counters the law is clear and doctors must deny abortions except in emergencies. A decision is expected in coming months.
