Lightning arrester failures blamed for power outage
Northwestern Wilson County residents recall a November 30 power outage that cut power at the Eagle Creek substation and closed Floresville North Elementary School. About 4 600 customers lost service for roughly 3 1 2 hours before FELPS and CPS Energy restored power. FELPS interim CEO Steve Sax cited two failed lightning arresters as the cause and thanked CPS for quick repairs and stock replacement parts. FELPS plans to install a permanent transformer shipped recently and operating by mid December.
