The schedule lists LV Athletic Boosters events at LVHS Cafetorium at 7 30 PM and a Sept 9 10 11 string of community gatherings. It includes Sutherland Springs Civic Club meetings at 7 30 PM and a LV Charter bus to Bloomington for a Bears game.
The regular meeting of the Poth 4-H Club is moved from September 1, 1986 to Monday September 8, 1986 at 7 30 p m in the Poth School Cafeteria. New members and all parents are welcome to attend.

The LaVernia Athletic Booster Club 1986 87 will host a covered dish supper on August 28 at 7 30 PM in the Cafetorium. Families bring one meat dish and a salad or vegetable for their own family plus one to share. The event supports the club membership drive and will feature stadium before and after videos. Everyone is invited.

The LaVernia EMS monthly Games Party takes place on the first Wednesday of each month at the Chamber of Commerce Hall. September 3 event starts early rounds at 7 15 PM to support the EMS program. Proceeds benefit the EMS program.
Hermann Sons Dance classes hold registration Saturday August 30 from 10 to noon at the Senior Citizen Recreation Hall Main Street Stockdale. A parent or guardian must be present to enroll the child.
The Sand Hills Trail Riders sponsor a two day playday at the LaVernia Rodeo Arena on August 30 and 31. Seventeen events are planned with nine Saturday and eight Sunday. Books open 9 am and events start 11 am. Prizes include tack for first and second place and ribbons for third through sixth. Contact 779-4521 or 779-2183.
Witnesses saw an unidentified elderly man in a wheelchair attempt to enter the VFW Hall in Poteet to vote Republican during the recent primary. He was reportedly turned away by the Democratic election judge for Precinct 8 on the side near the Democratic polls. The man then left in a gray or pale blue van with a wheelchair lift, driven by another man.
Bob Bivins runs Stockdale Cafe on Main Street open daily from 5 am to 2 pm and Sundays from 5:30 am. The cafe draws locals and visitors with yeasty breads pies and roast beef with a homemade gravy and Cajun shrimp creole from an old family recipe.
Nixon hosting a two day Feather Fest August 30 31 as part of its Sesquicentennial. The event features an 8 0 clock 5 K Run registration at 7 00 a m and a 11 00 a m parade with Clifton Janksy and Kika de la Garza as marshals. Noon festival grounds open with food crafts and games. 1 00 p m Nixon Olympics and a chicken flying contest follow at the old railroad depot in downtown Nixon.
