Foundry president walks out on FEDC
Floresville Texas founder Texaley Foundry president Jack Rice left a Floresville Economic Development Corporation meeting after an official called the plant’s odor a concern. Rice seeks a new site about 20 acres away from homes to expand production from four to eight acres with a goal of 20 acres nearby and industrial development. He noted four decades in operation, 44 employees nearly all Floresville residents and payroll near one million dollars per year. A board member challenged his residence location in Stockdale and questioned why nearby residents oppose the move.

Rain arrives but crops remain in peril across Wilson County
After last week's storms, Wilson County suffered widespread drought losses with an estimated 2 350 producers facing 50 percent or more crop losses and over 1 000 with 80 percent or more. Pastures suffered about 360 000 dollars in damage while federal aid uptake remains low. Farmers hope scattered rain will help peanuts and land preparation, but experts warn recovery will take time.
