LaVernia Volunteer Fire Department hosts its 14th annual Fireman's Picnic at the Chamber of Commerce Park. The event runs Aug 7 with a 6 p.m. carnival start, a Saturday 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. dance by The Abbey of South Texas, and Sunday Aug 9 features a noon barbecue, 2 p.m. auction, 3:30 p.m. lawnmower races, 5 p.m. raffle, plus bingo and games.
