Slaying of Florence Castle in Chicago Hotel Room
In Chicago on June 23 a 24 year old entertainer, Mrs Florence Castle, was choked and beaten to death by a large black man in a Devonshire hotel room. The killer scrawled Black Legion Game on the dresser mirror with lipstick and looted her purse. Her seven year old son James witnessed parts of the attack and reported the intruder claimed to be a doctor before fleeing. Police found the body on the bed with a brick fragment nearby and the fire escape window open.
