The UMW contract runs out June 30 and a strike is likely if no agreement is signed. Ohio Spring Pig Crop Increases in 1949

Cincinnati Man Kidnapped and Robbed by Hitchhikers
A 24 year old Cincinnati vacuum cleaner salesman told State Highway Patrol he was robbed of 190 and his car by two hitch-hikers after picking them up in Covington Kentucky. He was knocked unconscious and left along the CCC Highway 15 miles west of Wilmington. The 1946 Plymouth Coupe was later found abandoned east of Sabina with the pocketbook but no money. Police plan to question Sadler and advise filing charges in Covington.

A glass jar containing $1,520 in twenty dollar bills was found under a coal pile at a 75 year old pensioner's former shanty in Salem township. VA Physician Injured In Airplane Crash
