Orioles Camp Sees 45 Tryout Players In Second Day

Forty five baseball players reported for the second day of the Baltimore Orioles tryout camp at J W Denver Williams Jr Memorial Park. Thirty from Friday returned for further trials while some who tried Friday did not meet speed and throwing standards. Gary Murray joined the group as a 17 year old pitcher, brother to John and Jim Murray. James Russo, the Oriolo scout, led a morning session of sprints and throwing followed by a game. most pitchers worked only one inning. No signing indications were announced.

Ohio candidates face showdown over expense filing deadline

In Cleveland a legal clash pits two Republican lawyers against the Board of Elections over Ohio's expense account filing rule. Five winners from last May's primary allegedly failed to file by June 7, risking disqualification. They include three Democratic delegates to Gov Lausche and two state representative nominees. The prosecutors seek to halt certification. Secretary of State Brown says late filings may be allowed, viewing the deadline as directory, not mandatory.

Mrs Haines and Son Injured in Boat Explosion

Mrs. Haines and her seven year old son Stephen were severely burned in an explosion on a boat at Nanatou Beach Michigan and hospitalized in Addison. The Haines family and cousin Paul Stralnie with daughter Leslie were aboard. Mrs Haines protected Stephen and Leslie as flames spread.
