Textbooks Adopted for Wilmington City Schools for Five Years
The Wilmington Board of Education approved new textbooks for a majority of courses for five years after recommendations from teacher study committees and Supt. Roy E. Holmes. The board hired a high school teacher Mrs. Burdet te Bennett, accepted two resignations, and set the 1956-57 school calendar. Bennett will teach commercial subjects and other high school courses, earning 4 500 dollars annually. Resignations included Robert W. Hart who leaves for a missile engineering post in St. Louis and Miss Mary Louis Purdom who will teach at Hillsboro. A part time cafeteria worker was hired at 65 dollars a month. The calendar for 1956-57 was approved.
