Washington reports the O Neal Pharaoh Wallace farm bill is effectively dead as House allies prune the granary wheat provision and a tenant farm clause. They will pass these changes before adjournment, while opposing a broader production and surplus control package.
A spokesman for the National Association of Manufacturers urged Congress to apply controls on labor organizations amid rising local disorder and production interruptions. James A. Emery argued against wage and hour provisions, favoring narrow child labor limits and opposed granting a five member board broad power to restrict earnings and production hours.
Assistant State's Attorney Emmet Moynihan said Margaret Montgomery, a 27 year old nurse, admitted the tale of two men abducting her and summoning Prentice to a meeting was a hoax to regain the doctor’s regard. The Planted plot aimed to make a martyr of herself after a motor collision meeting.
Columbus June 10 Mrs. Margaret Allman State Welfare Director announced about 325000 of her department 550000 biennial construction appropriation would fund improvements at Mansfield Reformatory and Massillon State Hospital. A new dining hall and employees quarters at Mansfield will cost about 200000.
Cleveland reports state liquor board chairman George Eppley has ordered an immediate ban on bingo in saloons and beer parlors statewide. He cited regulations that prohibit gambling where liquor licenses are held and warned licenses will be suspended or revoked for violations.
President Roosevelt urged doctors to cooperate in plans for medical care for the medically poor. Senator J Hamilton Lewis delivered the message to the American Medical Association in Atlantic City. Mrs Mary Hastings car stalls on a grade crossing. She leaps out and flags an approaching passenger train to save the vehicle and her dog Inky. Police report no injuries and the train halts in time.
Gen. J. R. Sadler of Nashville led a 93 year old parade at a Confederate veterans reunion in Jackson Mississippi. He telegrammed to meet him at the railway station with 12 pretty girls on horseback and a spirited horse for the ride to the hotel. The relay of riders and horses totaled thirty.
London reports Britain defeated a Soviet bid to join four power talks on safety guarantees for warships in the hands off Spain patrol. London says talks will stay among Britain France Italy and Germany to avoid friction with Nazi and Fascist states. Soviet envoy Maisky was informed of the decision by Captain Euan Wallace.
Unofficial returns show 102,929 voting against repeal and 94,652 in favor, keeping Georgia among the few dry states with no legal hard liquor sales. The result places Georgia with Tennessee, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Mississippi as remaining dry states after yesterday's election.

Professor Jacob B. Taylor says he worked for the State Unemployment Commission during his university leave, contesting the State Auditor Joseph T. Ferguson who stopped his pay. Ferguson said Taylor collected 450 dollars monthly from March 15 as a full time accountant for the commission and 400 dollars from Ohio State University.
Litt Bros. on West Main announces a sensational two day sale following weeks of preparation. The event features low prices on seasonal merchandise including new white shoes and other items from New York Chicago and Cincinnati warehouses. Store hours extend Friday night and Saturday until 10 PM with extra sales staff to handle large crowds.
The San Juan chief of police and Robert Thompson announce a formal investigation into the bullet firing aimed at U. S. Judge R. A. Cooper as he returned home by car in San Juan Puerto Rico. Judge Cooper had recently sentenced eight Puerto Rican Nationalists to prison for conspiring to overthrow the U. S. government on the island.
In Brussels heavy guard blocks Parliament as veterans oppose a government plan to pardon Belgians convicted of wartime treason. The amnesty affects Flemings who sided with Germany. 400 veterans protested by tearing medals from their chests and laying wreaths at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
A quartet of tornadoes struck central Oklahoma killing one person and injuring at least 16. Homes were shattered and crops ruined in Union City Mustang Cushing Maud Moore and Sasakwa with damage running into the thousands of dollars.
Dr Paul W. Koller, 51, professor of astronomy and geology at the University of Dayton, a faculty member since 1924, died suddenly of a heart attack at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton.
Senator Guffey proposed expanding a Senate inquiry into the midwest steel strike to include alleged importation of gunmen and the stockpiling of machine guns by steel firms. In Monroe Michigan at noon a mob of PC Steel workers and deputized special policemen forced Leonigas McDonald the organizer of the Committee for Industrial Organization to walk out of the city after seizing him on Monroe's main street. They drove him toward Toledo then an automobile took him west. The violence occurred as 500 civilian police assembled to guard the Newton plant reopening at 4 P M with Governor Frank Murphy and Mayor Daniel Knaggs leading a conference with strikers and company representatives seeking peace.

Corn weak due to large foreign arrivals. Cattle steady around ten to twelve dollars. Hogs rise to about eleven sixty.
