Billion Boost In U S Defense Fund Predicted

Washington AP Senator Dennis Chavez expects the Senate Defense Funds subcommittee to add more than 500 million to the annual military bill, potentially pushing total requests over a billion dollars above Eisenhower's July 1 budget. The panel aims to restore 293 million for a large attack carrier and add 294 million for Bomarc missiles, 285 million for the B70 system, plus increments for airlift and Army modernization.

Congressmen urged to take 53 cents an hour pay cut

Wayne Morse proposes reducing Congress members pay to 53 cents per hour from the current 22 500 dollars a year plus extras. Dying Rocket Sighted Over Wilmington Area

Walter Reeves of Route 1 Wilmington reported an intense sky light at 11 35 p m Tuesday in the northern sky traveling eastward. He said two burning chunks fell at four to five second intervals and the light was as large as the brightest stars, with local enthusiasts suggesting a satellite or rocket reentry in denser atmosphere.

Gallia County grand jury will convene in special session Monday to consider a murder accusation against Ferrell Randolph 22 of Gallia County for the May 13 fatal shooting of his wife Virginia 21. Randolph shot himself after the slaying and has recently been discharged from the hospital.

AP reports Nixon led California Republicans with 668 073 votes while Gov Brown trailed with 627 584 Democratic votes and pension promoter McLain drew 291 180. California delegates to the Democratic convention went to Brown, while Nixon gained momentum for a nationwide contest.
