The Jaycees organized a gift drive in Wilmington and surrounding areas delivering four toys to each of 229 children. Local groups including the Wilmington Fire Department, Senior Citizens, Home and Garden Club, Clothing Cupboard, and merchants contributed toys and clothing. Clifford Fahrer chaired the effort. six trucks delivered the packages in four hours.

In Troy Ohio a 26 year old man was arrested as a suspect in the abduction and shooting of 19 year old Jerry Morehead and 18 year old Miss Marcella Butt. Morehead is hospitalized in fair condition and Butt remains in critical condition. The pair from Christiansburg were abducted near a Troy shopping center and driven to an old air plane hangar near Piqua where they were shot. The assailant used a .38 pistol.
