Death of LaMax Theater founder McCoy at 78
David F. McCoy 78, owner of the LaMax Theater and a Wilmington pioneer, died at his home Saturday at 7 30 p.m. after a period of declining health. Born near Wilmington April 1, 1857, he built the LaMax in 1915 with his brother and Robert J. Lacy. He handed theater duties to his son Brent R. McCoy and remained a noted local businessman. Survived by wife Anna Irene Ent, son Brent, three brothers, and two grandchildren. Funeral Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Lukens Funeral Home.
