Double funeral services for Wilmington native George E. Peterson and his son Roy W. Peterson will be held at Stubbs Funeral Home in Waynesville Tuesday at 2 PM with burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery, Wilmington. George, 52, and Roy, 20, died in a truck crash in Cincinnati while returning from Tennessee with lumber for their Waynesville business.

Lower Food Prices Expected in 1949 by Retailers and Suppliers
Neighbors saved the Orville Garrison home in Midland Friday night after a fire broke out in the living room and second floor. Fire officials estimate about 1000 dollars in damage. Mrs. Carl Walker raised the alarm, prompting a bucket brigade and a Clinton County Air Force Base fire truck to finish extinguishing the blaze. The fire is believed to have started from an overloaded electrical plug. The living room and south side second floor were affected. most furniture was removed by neighbors. The westbound City of San Francisco derailed five miles west of Lakeside Utah last night. Thirteen of the 15 cars left the rails and ran across the desert for about a half mile. None of the 240 passengers was seriously hurt.
