Jesse N. Thompson a 67 year old Hillsboro Negro was executed in the electric chair for the July 11 fatal shooting of Herbert Green. He faced the chair with two clergymen present after praying in his cell and declined clemency as the governor noted no proof of self defense and a prior Kentucky murder record.
Dorothy Brown, 17, a Scott High School senior, was near death from a fractured skull after a man allegedly smashed her head with a wrench and left her in a ditch. Detectives questioned the suspect who said the attack followed a demand for $500 the girl allegedly needed.
