Ohio Weather Remains Frigid Across State

The U S Weather Bureau in Cleveland says cold air will persist in northern Ohio through Tuesday with highs from 14 to 22 degrees and subzero to 5 above lows. Snow diminishes today though the northeast counties saw heavy weekend snowfall up to eight inches in Ashtabula County, totaling around 20 inches in spots. Extreme lows were reported across the Plains and Midwest with Bemidji minus 36 and Minneapolis St Paul at minus 16, while International Falls hit 30 below zero.

Pilot Whales Stage Return To Palo Vedra Beach

In Ponte Vedra Beach Florida pilots whales returned Sunday mirroring a prior episode. Deputy Roy Landrum reported about 150 whales along a three mile beach with many dead on the sand weighing up to a ton and reaching 16 feet. Crews from Marineland rescued several others including two groups of large whales. Theories include sonar confusion in shallow beaches and pursuit by sharks.
