Bruno Hauptmann faces execution in the electric chair the week of January 13 as New Jersey Governor Hoffmann weighs doubts that the Lindbergh baby kidnapping case will end with his death. The state’s scheduled date follows December reports of legal action and public interest in the high profile trial.
Bruno Richard Hauptmann learned today that the week of January 13 was scheduled for his execution by electric chair for the kidnapping and murder of Charles A Lindbergh Jr. An unnamed prison guard conveyed the news to the condemned man in his death house cell.
The governor signaled continued doubt over the Hauptmann case as Justice Trenchard signed a new death warrant. Jurists consider new trial possible only if newly discovered evidence emerges, while the six month limit for a new trial presses. Colonel Kimberling will set the exact date after defense lawyer Fisher declined to be notified.

In Ironton a gasoline blast set by three boys in a vacant house killed 13 year old John Kent Ullrich and severely injured his 9 year old brother David, with Thomas Cloran also badly burned. The boys, sons of Mr and Mrs Harry Ullrich, were in a house owned by W A Cloran when the explosion occurred.
In Clinton County 25 of 405 eligible workers have not been assigned to WPA projects. Frank Thatcher WPA engineer states the remaining 25 will be put to work on WPA jobs as soon as possible.
