A Sandusky County jury acquitted 19 year old Gary Cattell of second degree manslaughter in the July traffic deaths of Toledo couple Mr and Mrs Robert Kellermierer and companion Robert Zimmermann 17. The eight women and four men returned the verdict in Judge Bernard J Hawk's court in Fremont.
Edward R. Segar, 22, a commercial pilot, was fined $100 for reckless flying after his plane struck his uncle Edward R. Baird in a duck blind at Back Bay, near Princess Anne, on November 23. Baird suffered a fractured skull during the collision.
Floyd Patterson, at 21, knocks out Archie Moore in Chicago to win Rocky Marciano’s vacated title in 2 27 of the fifth round. Moore, favored at 9 to 5, is cut and defeated amid a 14,000 crowd with Patterson later learning his wife gave birth to a daughter. Attendance 14,000. gross 228,145. net 187,585. radio TV fee 180,000. Patterson cites lighter gloves and distance against Huricane Jackson as factors in his victory.
In Hannibal Missouri Robert E Hughes the world s heaviest man at 1041 pounds planned to fly to New York for a television appearance. The first leg to St Louis would be in a heated extra large ambulance with a Slick Airline freight plane to transport him aboard a four engine heated airfreighter after Civil Aeronautics Board approval.
Western powers monitor developing Middle East moves as Britain and Turkey discuss thwarting a Soviet plan to seize Syria. Turkey seeks automatic NATO aid if fighting reaches Syria while Iraq leads five Arab states toward a united front against Soviet influence. Damascus reports arrests amid rioting and petitions urging changes in Iraq.

The writ seeks to stop a new trial for Homer Dean, convicted in 1950 of first degree murder in the shooting death of Elmo C. Rice. Dean was sentenced to life imprisonment after Judge Harter granted a new trial based on new evidence.
President Eisenhower announced a major expansion of asylum for Hungarian refugees. The total rises from 5 000 to 21 500 with 6 500 to be admitted under the Refugee Relief Act and 15 000 as parolees. Dayton reports Judy Sweeney aged 13 died in a local hospital from burns suffered when a fire destroyed her mother’s four room frame home in Mikami Shores last Tuesday. The blaze occurred in the suburban area Friday leading to the girl's death.
