A five year old boy escaped serious injury after being struck by an eastbound auto at 12 20 p m in front of 461 Douglas Street. Ned Palmer 5 of Petersburg Route 1 received emergency care at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Witness Mrs Charles Starr a nurse at Wilmington College examined the boy finding facial cuts and mouth bleeding. The driver Herbert Poorman 54 of 47 Douglas Street said the boy ran from between parked cars into his path as he skidded to a stop.
