El Paso Texas December 30 Villistas set a trap at Jiminez for two thousand Carranza troops who marched in believing Villa had left. Villa’s forces waited outside and struck in a whirlwind battle. Murguia’s column was shattered with many dead and wounded as they fled, leaving the railway station crowded with refugees and Vila wounded.
New York December 30 George Gillette Yale graduate was held on $10 000 bail by Recorder Carsten in Hoboken on embezzlement charges. Gillette was arrested in Newark after allegedly padding the payroll at the Remington Arms Metallic Cartridge Company's plant where he served as superintendent.
New Britain Conn Dec 30 Captain Henry F of Company I First Regiment Nations Guard killed himself with his service pistol after removal from his company and orders to report for Hartford He left a final note saying this is hell after twenty years service and that he was relieved by his colonel and orders at the state armory
