American Committee Aid Helps 55,000 Armenians

George F. Gracey reports from London that the American Committee for Armenian and Syrian Relief fed and clothed about 55,000 Armenians in the Caucasus and Armenia since the war began. He notes aid came largely from American generosity, with relief work spanning May to August before renewed Turkish advances disrupted recovery efforts. The effort supported refugees from Mush, Bitlis, and Van as Russians and Ottomans contested the region. Gracey describes the broader aim to secure a line from Trebizond to Aleppo to cut Turkey off from Mesopotamian resources.
