House approves Cherokee Indian school appropriation

German Allies Move Toward Formal Peace Negotiations

Berlin reports Germany and its allied powers plan to enter peace negotiations. Proposals, deemed suitable for lasting peace, are to be presented by the central powers with Austria Hungary Turkey and Bulgaria sending identical notes to the Vatican. Army Transport Sumner Runs Aground Off New Jersey

The US army transport Sumner bound from Colon to New York ran aground off Barneget, New Jersey, with 232 aboard including officers and troops.
