Mrs. W. E. Richmond chairs the Wilmette American Legion post auxiliary committee in charge of the annual Poppy day sale set for Tuesday May 27. Women of Wilmette are being organized under the auxiliary to conduct the sale.
Mrs Julius T Seng and family returned last week to their home at 1222 Chestnut Avenue from Leesburg Florida where they had been since last January. Mr Seng will be home the first part of next week.
Census figures released under Mrs M K Northam show Kenilworth growing most rapidly from 1188 in 1920 to 2471 in 1930. Wilmette rises from 7814 to 15179 and Glencoe from 3381 to 6290, while Winnetka census was incomplete. No Man's Land shows a 46 population in 1930.
Coast Guard officials approve moving the Evanston unit to Wilmette harbor for better north shore protection. Plans call for brick construction and a more attractive building, with work expected to start soon after notification to Park Board President Louis Gillson. Congressman Carl R. Chindblom pushed for the revision from frame to brick construction.
The North Western Limited train on the Chicago and North Western railway will begin a revised schedule this Sunday May 18 with Winnetka as a conditional stop. Departure from Chicago is 8 30 p m to Eau Claire and beyond arriving St Paul 7 25 a m and Minneapolis 8 00 a m. Northbound time drops 1 35. southbound departs Minneapolis 8 00 p m St Paul 8 40 p m with Winnetka stop 7 30 a m and saves 30 minutes.
