North Shore group seeks to save Sheridan Drive as scenic route
William Sherman Hay of Winnetka told the Illinois Commission on Future Roads Program that Sheridan road should remain a scenic drive and through traffic diverted to Route 57 the Skokie Boulevard. He urged immediate completion of Route 57 and posted a plan to mark through highways westward while opposing freight trucks on the North Shore.

Northwestern Wrestler Jack Riley Aims for Olympic Team
Jack Riley of Wilmette, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Riley, will try out for the Olympic heavyweight wrestling team in Columbus Ohio starting July 6. A two time national heavyweight champion he starred at Northwestern University and also played left tackle for the Purple three years and earned All American honors this season. The Olympic trials feature contestants from the National Athletic Association National Intercollegiate Association and the zonal YMCA.
