Mr and Mrs G W Vaught and their son George Jr of 505 Ridge road Kenilworth returned home Monday after an eighteen day trip to Florida and the West Indies.
Miss Shirley Bradford returns to the University of Illinois after a week’s vacation with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Frederick H. Bradford of 500 Fifth Street.
Murphy's Lodge defeated Red Devils 29 to 18 in a second half rally. R. Meter led Murphy's with 13 points as Wilmette Confectionery beat Fa-Va-Ells 36 to 22. Rovers toppled Alumni 32 to 15 with Freeman scoring 15. Hawkeyes took sole first in D league with 32 to 18 over Blow Outs, Magner and Neukranz 10 each. Inga's X beat Willies 36 to 34 in OT after 32 all. Con-Ya-Mats beat Mercury's 24 to 16 with Koerber scoring 21. E league Groucho outscored Minus 53 to 16 as Bernard Bowen hit 33. Walther league Bob Mathews outscored Bill Cloud 10 to 8. Super Stars edged Imps 19 to 12. C league Uknow over Wacker A 31 to 18. Demons beat Ridge Runners 37 to 34 with Birdie Bruschini scoring 15.
Space remains for badminton players at Howard gym on Monday and Friday nights from 7 to 10. Try the sport and become a fan, and enter the Wilmette badminton tournament to be held soon at the same facility.
Tap dancing at the Community Center grows quickly with a new drill called Drums. The free classes invite more children, with enrollment at the Recreation office or at the Center. Sessions run every Tuesday afternoon.
The article notes auditions for the second annual amateur show at the Community Center on Friday. Fourteen acts qualified and organizers expect this year to eclipse last year’s grand show. The amateur show is scheduled for Thursday at 8 o’clock in the Howard School auditorium.
Tom and Peg Lively visiting their parents at 1511 Central Avenue left Sunday evening with several other students to return to the University of Illinois.
George N. Helmstadter of 104 Woodbine avenue has bought the W. H. B. Stephens house at 619 Central avenue. The Helmstadters will not move until spring.
Mrs R A Walton of 921 Sheridan road is visiting in Berwick Pennsylvania at the home of her mother Mrs Enoch Walton who has been ill.
Robinson has confessed to several minor burglaries while in the state attorney's custody. He is to appear before Police Magistrate John J. Peters for a preliminary hearing Friday, though this may not happen.
