The North Shore Area council is rated among the best of 530 US Scout councils as the nation observes the 25th anniversary of Boy Scouting. By year end 1934 the council registered 1,440 Scouts, with 409 new recruits and 97 in troops formation, ranking highly in achievement indices.
Supt E L Nygaard of the Joseph Sears school Kenilworth departed Tuesday night for Arizona to spend a month recuperating from two operations. He will base his headquarters at Stafford near Phoenix and visit the Arizona School for Boys at Tucson where George Harper, brother of Supt J R Harper Wilmette schools, is principal.
Harmony convention chairman C E Drayer announces a Monday evening session to review the committee on candidates report. Joseph W Lechner serves as committee chair and the roster spans Village offices and Library and Park District boards.
At the annual meeting of the Wilmette Chest Association five directors were elected including Mrs. O E Thaley Lyman M Drake George H Redding Henry Fowler and Arthur C Youngberg. Reports of officers and the auditor were approved. The officials are chosen by the board from its membership.
The Economy Shop run by the Woman's Club of Wilmette expresses gratitude for the swift community response to its appeals. Needy residents waited for candle ends last week and received them, with Win MerTre Live broadcasting the appeals. Mrs. A. L. Grinnell chairs the effort.
Township Treasurer F A Andrew announces unpresented New Trier High School tax warrants from 1932 levy. Warrants in series E-82 to E-950 educational classification and E-40 to E-935 building classification are due. Holders urged to present warrants for payment at earliest opportunity.
Clark Hallam, businessman, news writer and world traveler, will lecture on the Far East at the Wilmette Sunday Evening Club next Sunday February 10 at the First Congregational Church. He will show motion pictures and discuss his extensive experiences in China and Japan and his insights into Sino Japanese affairs.
