Judge Jarecki Clears Up Tardy Tax Cases in Wilmette

Judge Edmund J. Jarecki reviewed twenty eight petitions under the Kerner Skarda Act seeking tax receivers for Wilmette properties. Most owners promised payment or installments while a receiver was avoided. hearings were held individually and a one week to ten day continuance was allowed for full payment. The judge emphasized civic service needs and requested a list of revenue producing Wilmette properties to monitor compliance.

Firemen Seek Toys for Needy Children This Christmas

Wilmette Fire Chief Walter Zibble urges residents to repair discarded toys for distribution to needy youngsters. All toys are acceptable in any condition and can be restored. Bring gifts to the Main street and Lake avenue fire station or call the station to arrange collection. Time is running out.

New Trier Songsters Sing Carols on Radio and Street

Three New Trier High School vocal groups perform Christmas carols on WGN radio Sunday evening December 22 from 6 to 6 30. Mixed choir and boys octave directed by Adelaide Jones Bradburn join girls' octet led by Frances Anderson. Before the broadcast the singers perform on Michigan Avenue near Tribune Tower from 5 30 to 6 o'clock.

Suspend Scheduled Play Activity Over Holidays

The Wilmette Playground and Recreation Board will suspend nearly all activities during the Christmas holidays with one exception. Recreation Director Daniel M. Davis announced that badminton will be allowed. the Howard gymnasium will be open each Friday night for badminton group members during the two-week period.

Wilmette Masonic lodge members hold their monthly birthday party Thursday evening December 26 at the Masonic temple. Newly elected officers will lead the program and present degree work exemplified by the new officers.

Optimist Club Plans Yule Party for Needy Boys

The Wilmette Optimist club will host its annual Christmas party for needy boys at the Wilmette Masonic temple on Sunday December 22 at 430 PM. W H Perry, club president, directs the event with 40 to 50 members and friends sponsoring a boy each for an expected 150 attendees. The program features dinner entertainment and gifts with boys selected by the Wilmette Welfare board and the local dental clinic. Troop 10 Boy Scouts also attends as a guest group sponsored by the club.

Church Schedules Two Christmas Services in Wilmette

The Wilmette English Lutheran Church announces a Christmas pageant Sunday December 22 at 4 PM with the Senior choir. An additional Christmas Day service offers 6 30 AM with the Senior choir and 10 30 AM with the Junior choir. Rev. David R. Kabele urges all to attend.

Wilmette will stage its annual Christmas Eve song festival next Tuesday at 7 30 PM around the village hall tree. Village President Harry C Kinne will welcome the audience. George Jones will organize a band. Joseph Kutten will lead the songs.
