Yule Message at Sunday Club by Dr. John Timothy Stone

Dr. John Timothy Stone to deliver a Christmas sermon at the Wilmette Sunday Evening club on December 21 with special music by Edith Rideau Normelli of St Luke's Evanston. Stone, a prominent United States minister, has long served Chicago's Fourth Presbyterian Church and is president of the McCormick Seminary.

Mailing Deadline For Christmas Parcels Adjusted

Patrons of north shore post offices are reminded that packages to the Pacific coast states must use special delivery after December 17 to arrive before Christmas. After December 18 the same applies to Montana Wyoming Utah Arizona New Mexico Oklahoma and Texas. Neighboring states may mail by December 21 with practical assurance, while other states have a December 20 deadline.

No Mail Deliveries On Christmas Day Shantz

Wilmette post office will be closed all day on Christmas with no mail deliveries except specials. One afternoon collection will occur and dispatch follows Sunday schedule. Mail arriving by December 24 will be delivered before Christmas to prevent last minute buildup.

Christmas Pageant Presented by Kenilworth Union Church

The Christmas pageant "Why the Chimes Rang" by the children of Kenilworth Union Church occurs Sunday afternoon at 3:45 at the church. Prof. C Russell Small of New Trier High directs. After the pageant the children tour the village singing carols. Kenilworth residents invited.

Call to Carolers Opens Wilmette Christmas Eve Service

Wilmette residents are urged to join the tenth annual open air carol service on the Village hall lawn at 7 30 p m Christmas Eve. Village President Earl E Orner will give the welcome address followed by carols led by R D Burtner with music by New Trier High and Wilmette Grammar school students under Mark Simonds. The program features familiar carols including Come All Ye Faithful Hark the Herald Angels Sing Away in a Manger We Three Kings The First Noel and Silent Night. The half hour service will be followed by Christmas services at Wilmette churches.

Wilmette Board Cuts Motion Picture Theater Fee

The Wilmette Village board reduced the annual fee for operating motion picture theaters from 300 to 25 cents per seat. The ordinance will be amended and the new fee becomes due January 1 each year.

Wilmette Civic League to Hear Zoning Plans Today

Robert Stoddard, head of Wilmette Plan Commission and Zoning Board, speaks at a Wilmette Civic League luncheon at the University Club in Chicago about the proposed revised zoning ordinance. The league also announces a Political Action committee and plans for a Village caucus to nominate spring candidates.
