The National Association of Broadcasters issued a revised code for radio program standards focusing on children. It calls for supervision, avoidance of horror content, no dangerous activity ads, ongoing study, and parental consultation to improve content.

Radio Club and Youth Programs Schedule Preview

The listing shows weekly and weekend broadcasts for youth and family listeners. Programs include The Dial Detective for Kg-2 on Mondays at 2:30 p.m. on WAAF and The Hour of the Magic Boots with seasonal activities, Malcolm Clair stories, Your Science Reporter adventures, and a Parents segment featuring Toscanini and the NBC Symphony on WCFL Sundays at 9:00 p.m.

Our Natural Resources in Fifth Grade Reports

Fifth graders studied natural resources using library books from Wilmette and school. Groups selected resources like oil copper gold silver and iron and presented reports after group research. The class also played games including Who Am I.

Safety Patrol Organized at The Howard School

At Howard School the eighth grade boys who served last year form the safety patrol with Lester Ball as sponsor and officers including Captain Tom Carney and lieutenants Charles Regan Robert Montrose and Charles Haley. Dorothy VanAlstine captains the girls with Pauline Evert as lieutenant.

Second Graders Visit Downtown Rail Terminal

Howard school second graders toured the Chicago and North Western terminal in Chicago. Guides explained station functions and passengers roles while students rode a local train to the loop. They imagined tickets and learned baggage care, ending with a New 400 tour and producing booklets poems and charts.

Mrs. L. Lewis reports the disappearance of a platinum ring with a 1% carat diamond setting valued at $400. The ring was not insured. Police investigations have not located the ring.
