Village seeks federal aid to extend Wilmette water system
At a special village board meeting President C P Dubbs was authorized to request through the state administrator that the Federal Emergency Administration of Public Works consider an unissued bond issue of 93000 to extend and improve the Wilmette water distribution system. The plan calls for a large 20 or 24 inch main from the pumping station to Ridge and Elmwood avenues to feed western Wilmette with better supply and connect with 12 inch mains. The village would add 30 percent, totaling 124900, with labor to be done locally and no contract. An application to the county for permission to lay the main under Sheridan road and to connect to a sewer draining wash water from filtration beds was also submitted.

Tag Day Planned for Wilmette September 9
Wilmette will hold another tag day on September 9 if rain does not cancel it on September 11. Cha teau Thiery Chapter No. 5, an overseas veterans group, sought the date for its annual forget-me-not day and received village board approval Tuesday night.

Record Attendance Sets Playground Peak of 1933

Shrubs Trimmed to Cut Traffic Hazard in Village
Chairman W. C. Farrar told the Village board that the Forest avenue and Twelfth street shrubs create a traffic hazard and urged trimming to village ordinances. He asked Police Superintendent Henry Brautigam to equip two new squad cars with sirens from discarded cars and to install a radio from an old car while buying a new radio for the other, which the board ordered.
