Dinner Hosts At Teepetonka Hotel On Green Lake

Entertained DF and Mrs C E Anderson at a dinner for about twenty guests at the Teepetonka Hotel on Green Lake Saturday night. Afterward the group moved to the Andersons cottage for a cards evening and social time. The Wilk Mar Municipal Band will hold open air concerts at eight o'clock Thursday evenings starting next week, shifting from Wednesday due to the boys' schedule.

Spicer Residents Host Various Summer Visitors

Spicer residents welcomed relatives and friends from Minneapolis Moorhead and Raymond visiting for summer. Local social events included a Zion church Sunday program with Norwegian and English remarks and a lakeside picnic. The Grove City Military Band performed a concert at Spiver Park drawing many locals.

Willmar graduates from Bethel Academy in St Paul return home

Miss Mabel Lundquist returns to Willmar after two years at Bethel Academy in St Paul where she earned a diploma in the Commercial department. Claus Hammarstrom also returns after graduating from the academic department. Other graduates include Margaret and Mabel Olson and Alvin and Clarence Lillian, with Margaret Ofoh also finishing academically. The group plans a Minneapolis twin cities summer. Wallace Dahlheim will take a position in Minneapolis.

Coster Employee Killed In Accident

Charles Logan, a spring employee of the Willmar Construction Co, left for Minneapolis where he worked in similar trade. The next day he died in a crushing accident at Mill City. He had been a teamster here and had previously lost his left arm in a separator accident years ago.

Mrs Martin Syverson Hosts Neighborhood Social

Sunburg on June 12 reports Mrs. Martin Syverson organized a neighborhood social night for Mr. Syversons birthday. The plan was to keep him idle with chores until a playful surprise revealed the joke. Ludvig Fossum and Martin Stone returned Friday from a trip to Bone Man N D via the Ford route. Mr and Mrs Jens Skaalrud also came back last week from Nelson County ND to visit relatives and friends.

Flag Day Program Delights Willmar Children

Elks Lodge led a Willmar Flag Day parade with about 250 children at the high school. The Willmar Municipal Band marched, Dr. Malmgren rode ahead on horseback, Navy unit led by James Haslett, and Vernon Forsberg dressed as Uncle Sam rode in the cart. Local officials helped supervise and ice cream cones were served after the ceremony. Attorney Van Vorst spoke on patriotism and the flag’s history, urging loyalty among the youth.

City ministers push for religious instruction in schools

A gathering led by Mrs. Angust Lad and hosted by Mr. and Mrs. August Lomainty discussed introducing religious instruction into the city curriculum. Attendees included Arnt Vaaler JH W Stowe J.R. McCullough Claus Johnson Luther Benson G A Youngertom and Capt. Olga Johnson of the Army. A resolution endorsing the ministers plan will be sent to the Board of Education. The ministers intend to proceed with their proposal where feasible.

Sunday School Party Sees Jene Johnson Off to Minneapolis

Adeline Sundberg hosted a Sunday School class gathering at her home last evening in honor of Miss Jene Johnson who plans to move to Minneapolis soon. Prizes were awarded to contest winners. The Ostlunds of Everett Washington announce a baby boy born June 6 at their home, Mrs Ostlund formerly Jennie Fabistrom of Kandiyohi. Mr Ostlund previously resided in Raymond.
