The Kandi yohi County Old Settlers Association meets Tuesday June 20 at Cedar Hill Sibley Park with speaker Senator Ole O Sageng Otter Tail County and possible address by Senator Olaf Gjerset Chippewa County Music by New London Band. ball game New London versus Kandiyohi. admission one dollar men fifty cents ladies annual dues fifty cents men twenty five cents ladies. County road work expands across six routes

Road crews will grade six highways south of Raymond northwest of Sunbury between Willmar and Sunbury east of New London south of Atwater to Kendiyo hi and southwest of Willmar with gravel on the Sunbury stretch. Concrete culverts arrive from Elk River with about twenty carloads needed for the six sites and storage space being arranged. Coffee social hosted by Bethel Ladies Society in church parlors Thursday with a long list of volunteers. Ladies Aid of First East Norway Lake church to meet June 23 at S. M. Henjum’s home for afternoon and evening sessions. all welcome.

Forsberg Named District Deputy Grand Patriarch at IOOF Convention

A. O. Forsberg was appointed District Deputy Grand Patriarch at the 70th convention of the IOOF in Minnesota held at the West Hotel in Minneapolis. About 2000 Odd Fellows attended. The district covers Willmar Hutchinson and Montrose.

State Association to Meet in Willmar

The Kandiyohi County Garage Owners Association hosts a Willmar gathering of the State Garage Owners Association at eight o'clock in the Majestic Theatre. L G Wilcox will attend and address the group. a film titled Ask Em to Buy will be shown. About 75 garage owners and assistants are expected, with local Willmar dealers as hosts. The association formed in August 1921 under H A Osmundson as president, including Osmundson Garage Handy-Lewis Johnson-Erickson Jolly-Baker Ford Service Peter H Olson Halvorson and Opheim Willmar Tire Shop Lundquist Motor Co and Larson Motor Co.

Priam Community Club Plans July Fourth Celebration

The Priam Community Club will hold a Fourth of July celebration at the Mrs. Carrie Jensen place one mile northwest of Priam. Organizers will secure good speakers and arrange sports including horse races a baseball game and other contests. Readers are urged to watch for further details and plan to attend.

Rooms Needed for Stavanger Laget Visitors

The Stavanger Laget committee met at the Masonic Temple to arrange lodging for the June 22 and 23 convention. Visitors arriving by car should report to headquarters at the Masonic Temple for room assignments, with costs at 50 cents per night and 35 cents for breakfast if provided. Arne Wellin and Tribune handle accommodations as expected crowds exceed two thousand. meals will be served by the Norwegian Lutheran Free Church at the park pavilion.

Ex-Service Men's Picnic Planned for Diamond Lake

An exservice men's picnic and grand outing is set for July 9 at Diamond Lake with Sunday chosen for assembly. Sponsored by the American Legion, W. E. Soderling chairs the committee to invite Kandiyohi county veterans and their relatives to enjoy a day of recreation and sports at the lake. Roads will meet at Diamond Lake. organizers hope for good weather and a large turnout.

Double Bill of Base Ball Sunday at Local Park

A two game Sunday bill at the local park features Co. E of this city versus Kandiyohi at two oclock. The second game matches Benson against a Swift county all star team as Benson seeks revenge and showcases its strongest lineup to date with a 330 oclock start.

American Legion to Meet at Eagle Lake Cottage

The local American Legion post holds its regular monthly meeting Thursday evening at the Brogren cottage on Eagle Lake north shore. Attendees meet at the courthouse grounds at 7 o'clock for transport to the gathering. Delegates and alternates will be elected to attend the district convention at Ortonville on Monday July 24. Refreshments to be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary. The Odd Fellows Lodge conferred degrees last Tuesday June 6 with four candidates initiated and others from Benson receiving first through third degree. Willmar degree team ships classes here for degree work.

Steam Shovel At Work On Willmar Street Job In Progress

Willmar street excavations for paving advance with a steam shovel cutting Litchfield Avenue from the Great Northern Roundhouse to Eighth Street West and extending over Second, Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Operator A F Leiferman draws crowds as the machine digs and maneuvers. The shovel will be loaded onto a car for shipment to Minneapolis, with Leiferman and assistant Vernon Reed accompanying. Future digging will use a road plow elevator drawn by a steam tractor.

Contest winners for last week in missing word contest

Chauncey and Adolph Johnson launched the Johnson Trim and Paint Shop on Third Street in the former Paul L Hedin premises. The auto shop offers automobile painting, top repair and sale, and specialized trim work for all car makes, having opened June 1 and already reporting brisk business.

Purchased cottage by lodge at Eagle Lake shores

The local L O O F lodge bought P B Hong's cottage and several acres for 2100 dollars. The Nah venue includes buildings and a large lot across Eagle Lake. The lodge plans to keep the place neat and add facilities for recreation for members. Commissioners set meeting at courthouse chambers to discuss Foote Lake dam and routine business.

New Grocery Firm Opens on Pacific Avenue

Mikkelson and Samuelson form a new grocery company by purchasing half interests from C. P. Madsen and completing the deal with D. A. Samuelson for 2500 dollars. The building is owned by Ludwig Nelson of Rosendale. The firm will deliver by wagon and serve the public efficiently.

Narrow Escape After Auto Turnover Near Lake Lillian

Rosemond Holmgren and Violet Renstrom were hurled from a Ford when it turned over twice on the road south of the Albert Johnson place. Holmgren remained unconscious for over an hour. Renstrom was lightly bruised. Dr. R. J. Hodapp of Willmar attended Holmgren after Miss Renstrom summoned help.

Great Northern Veterans Special Tour Reaches Spokane

The Great Northern Veterans Special carrying 450 aboard arrived in Spokane after a two hour stop in this city. The nine coach train from St Paul to Tacoma included 175 passengers here and featured an annual meeting banquet and Spokane auto tour. Association officers W J McMillan and L Whitaker led the group, formed in 1913.

City Sport Editors Bart on Lewis Visit

George Barton and Lewis from Minneapolis Daily News visited the city last Monday afternoon. They greeted local fans including Kielty, and Lowit wrestled with Sadhjeany tossing his opponent in five minutes and thirty seconds. Sampson secured two falls in fifteen minutes.
