President Wilson's Sister Dies in New London Hotel
Mrs. C. E. Howe, the president's only sister, died in her hotel apartment in New London, after a week with peritonitis. The president had visited the city and returned to Shalow Lawn. She came from Philadelphia with her niece Miss Margaret Wilson and was survived by two sons Georgie and Wilson Howe and a daughter Mrs. Cothran, with Miss Wilson present.

Guard Regiments Will Change Places
Washington reports General Funston ordered one national guard regiment to return home for each new regiment sent to the border. The Second New York infantry to be among first home, with others chosen by Funston. Train equipment used to move troops south will bring back returning regiments, aligning with Baker policy to send state mobilization camps to the border before muster-out. About 18,000 guardsmen remain in state camps and will move as arrangements allow.

Engineer Killed by Tractor Gears Near McGregor Tioga
John Kelley, 40, engineer with Anthony Bloom threshing crew, died after his right foot was caught in a traction gear while adjusting machinery on a moving engine between McGregor and Tioga. Nine men freed him after about 30 minutes. He suffered extensive injuries and died in Tioga at 11 p.m. His home was near Wolf Point Montana.

Peoria tractors aid British war effort in trench clearing
The War Department builds armored tractor cars capable of crossing trenches and clearing obstacles. Peoria's Trolt Manufacturing supplied about a thousand tractors used by Britain and possibly Germany, with 120 horsepower, steel caterpillar belts, self laid rails, and ground pressure under three psi.
