Club Women to Meet at Minot in October

Valley City North Dakota reports the 19th annual North Dakota State Federation of Women's Clubs meeting will be held in Minot October 12 to 15 with five federation officers speaking. The program includes a costume pageant, better babies exhibit and a play by normal school children under Miss Eula Miller, plus extensive departmental conferences and formal openings.

Old Cartier Bruegger suit settles after years in court

One of the county's oldest cases ends with a settlement Saturday. The Cartier Bruegger title dispute over several lots in the original townsite, pursued through the courts for fifteen years and appealed to the supreme court three times, is resolved with Cartier awarded the title.

Former City Auditor Poe Arrested in Montana

Former City Auditor Will T. Poe was arrested near Wagner Montana on charges of impersonating another and obtaining money under false pretenses. He appeared at Malta for a hearing and was bound over to the district court under $2000 bond, unable to post bail and sent to custody. The case ties to loans sought from E C Carney and F B Bergman through a man calling himself J C Cross with Poe identified by bank cashiers and post office records.

Solicitor Lessell Young Arrested For Fraud Near Wildrose

Lessell Young was arrested early this week near Wildrose on a charge of obtaining money under false pretenses. A preliminary hearing was waived. he was bound over to district court on a five hundred dollar bond. He claimed to represent the Consumers Service and Supply Company of Minneapolis and told farmers that the firm had a Chamber of Commerce seat and could secure goods at about 25 per cent savings, prompting five year contracts and notes for 152 dollars plus a two dollar agent fee. A cousin, Ss. P. Legsellyoung, formerly with the Farmers Service and Supply Company, was jailed in Minneapolis last year for using the mails to defraud and fined five hundred dollars. Moral implied.

Death of Mrs Kolodzik of Gladys in this city

Mrs Elizabeth Kolodzik aged sixty four died in this city last Friday from bronchitis. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the M E Church by Rev Yung. Interment was in Williston cemetery. She leaves five daughters. two reside here Mrs Perry and Mrs Henry Lanegsdorf, one in Montana, one in Gladys, and one in Canada. All attended the funeral except the daughter in Canada.

Vernon Carson, 14, near Larimore North Dakota, harvested 48 bushels per acre of hard wheat on his self farmed ten acre plot. Since 1913 his father has allowed him the land for farming. He threshed ten acres with a 43 bushel average and sold 100 sheaves to the Great Northern railroad for immigration work use.
