Asking the Hen Lets Hens Pick Feeds for Better Laying
A Missouri experiment fed hens weighed amounts of various feeds and measured what they ate and what they left, while counting eggs and weighing the birds. Results show hens choose feeds that keep them in good laying condition, preferring wheat kaffir corn and cornmeal, avoiding oats and sunflowers. Beef scraps or sour milk were regarded as essential for layers.
