Steamboats to haul grain to Williston

George Stevens plans river steamers to bring grain from Nelson country and beyond to Williston for shipment east. Partners include R G Cargill and C L Bostwick. The venture aims to boost Williston trade, attract farmers, reduce long hauls, and establish Stevens as riverhead, with dockage, flat houses, and a side track, aided by the local commercial club.

Frank Fisk and his brother, a well known lawyer with seven to eight years of practice, plan to open a new firm on the Democrat ticket. They have years of experience in contest and land office work and will establish their office around the 17th.

Commercial Club Holds Meeting in Williston Courthouse

The Williston Commercial club held its first regular meeting at the courthouse. Absence of Secretary Bessie delayed minutes, with several board matters carried to the next gathering. Debates covered Senators Hansbrough and McCumber reception, aiding Stevens’s river freight rights, creamery plans, and river freight prospects.

Dates For The Lecture Course From Columbia Lyceum Bureau

The Columbia Lyceum Bureau reports five top entertainments for the city season. Chicago Glee Club performs October 24 followed by Dixie Jubilee Singers January 5 Bowdens Hiwatha January 26 Father Vaughn February 14 and Frank Nye March 1.
