Shoots Neighbor Then Kills Self in Wisconsin Town
John Engelhart of Ross shot and killed Henry Wiltse, a married man with a wife and two children, last Wednesday night, then shot himself. Engelhart, a single man, had reportedly targeted Wiltse and two other neighbors. He left a note on the schoolhouse blackboard claiming attempts to reach the other two failed, and he had premeditated the act with plans for his papers and property.

Local Red Cross Doing Fine Work In Flu Epidemic
The local Red Cross chapter reports two weeks of effective effort in fighting the flu outbreak. An emergency hospital at Odd Fellows Hall cares for about forty patients, with night duty needed at the hospital. Volunteers are urged to report to hospital headquarters in the Broe ger building, and supply needs, including alcohol, buttermilk, eggs, and deserts, are coordinated via Hagen and Everson’s Hardware. Donations and returned aprons and caps are requested.

The Williston Tannery on East Broadway across the Little Muddy Bridge is operating at full swing. Proprietors L. Lowitch and F. Woodnick have equipment to tan hides for robes and leathers for all commercial uses and plan retail and wholesale sales. Farmers may have hides prepared for own use or robes, and a new artesian well provides water for engines and tanning machinery.
