Civic League Thimble and Card Party At Odd Fellows

The Civic League invites women to a two day thimble and card party at Odd Fellows ball Friday and Saturday at 2 oclock. Admission costs 25 cents with refreshments and five hundred being played. Three Year Old Son of C A Johnson Burned

Delvin Johnson, three, son of Mr and Mrs C A Johnson of Minot, burned to death in a play house last Friday at 2 pm. A 5 year old girl, daughter of Frank Chapman, escaped with hair scorched. Neighbors, including Mrs Johnson, arrived quickly but the structure burned as a tinder mass. Doctors suspect he suffocated before flames reached him.

Near Fatal Gunshot Injury After Hunting Incident

Rugby North Dakota October 1. While hunting near Berwick Arnold, a 12 year old, was struck by a full shotgun charge fired as Gus O Neill, 25, attempted to operate his automatic shotgun. The shot passed through Arnold’s right arm and side, tearing flesh and splintering bone. Arnold underwent surgery to remove shot and wire the arm. He remains in precarious condition at Good Samaritan Hospital but is expected to recover. O Neill is a hardware merchant.

Williston residents will hear Jim Foley, famed poet of North Dakota and the United States, at Gates Opera House on October 18.
