Ward County Boy Killed by Lynx Near Kenmare

Walter Johnson, 16, son of Peter Johnson, pursued a lynx with a .22 rifle near McKinney, twenty miles east of Kenmare, and was killed when the lynx mauled him. Neighbors later shot the animal as it devoured the body, leaving a scene of tragedy for the bereaved family. Funeral planned for Saturday at the residence.

Attorney Slavin Attacks Great Northern Train Auditor in Granville

Grand Forks reports say Train Auditor Wilmot was brutally beaten aboard a Minot to Granville run by Attorney W S Slavin. Wilmot suffered a broken nose, shattered glasses, and facial bruises. Slavin and two companions cornered him at Granville as train officials could not intervene.

Cowardly Train Assault Witnesses Denounce Slavin

Passengers who witnessed the affair denounce Slavin as the attacker. Conductor Lockman, in charge of the train, replaced the train auditor for the remainder of the trip to Grand Forks.

Carlisle defeats the University of Chicago 19 to 0 in a fast game at Chicago. Three Carlisle field goals and a touchdown with goals account for the Indians' points. Chicago’s Walter Steffen kicked a drop from the 30 yard line for its lone score.

Odd Fellows Hall Dedication Slated For December Sixth

The dedication of the new Odd Fellows hall built this summer at a cost of 20000 dollars will be held December sixth at 3 pm. Grand Master H D Mack will deliver the address. Special degree work, a grand ball, and banquet follow with tickets at five dollars to support the hall furniture.

Miller convicted of horse theft in Mandan trial

Bob Miller of this city was convicted of stealing horses from McKenzie county parties. He received a five year sentence in the state pen at Bismarck after the case moved from McKenzie county due to prejudice. Miller later attacked attorney A J Bessie in Schafer, breaking his jaw in a doorway incident.

Death of Ralph Alberty in Parker County

Ralph Alberty a nineteen year old boy from Monday died last Thursday from typhoid fever after weeks under a doctor’s care. The disease claimed him and his remains were shipped to Parker for burial returning to his old home.

New Mileage Books To Be Issued

Local commercial houses welcome the Western Passenger Association plan to issue two mileage books the 1000 mile and the 2000 mile with no identification needed. The 1000 mile book will cost 25 and the 2000 mile book sells for 30 with interchangeability on all lines. Old plans required name attachments and rebates. Mr Bird of Blais dell Bird Co of Minot visited the city returning from Montana after antelope hunts.
