Numerous new brick blocks dot the city skyline as S Brownell & Co moving into a purpose built drug store north of their former stand. G M Thomas advances a two story brick with stock partially moved and office space ready. McKay Bros complete a Denby white brick one story drug store. John Heffernan’s two story block and the Stewart and Wilson blocks rise, with the Globe on the Stewart first floor and Wilson opening a restaurant. The round house expansion by the Great Northern stands as the year’s most costly improvement, a centerpiece for Williston pride.

Asbury Becomes Sole Owner Of Williston Grocery

V R Asbury has become the sole owner of the Williston Grocery Company after purchasing Francis Anderson's stake. The business will operate as Asbury Grocery Co, with plans for Anderson to open an ice skating rink this winter. The firm began with three partners less than a year ago.

Mayville and Fargo Face Off For State Title Clash

Mayville and Fargo High schools battled for the state championship in a disputed game. Fargo emerged with a 22 to 0 victory, though the title claim remains contested. Spectators urged a formal debate to settle the dispute.

One of the prettiest city weddings was held at the ME church yesterday at high noon. Miss Lillian E Greenup became the bride of Harvard Roonney in a ceremony by Rev P J Henness and Rev F B Hollett. The bridal party included Miss Ruth Wolcott, maid of honor, and RG Cowhan as attendant. The couple left for Spokane after a reception at the bride’s home, with guests and decor by Martin Bartholomew. The bride, daughter of E G Greenup, is praised as beautiful and accomplished. the groom is a respected local businessman.

Burns Todd Wedding in McKenzie County Home

A high noon wedding at the Paulson home united Miss Mary Boyde Todd and Lemuel B. Burns of McKenzie County North Dakota. Rev. P J Henness officiated before relatives and a few guests. Bride wore creamy white with bridal roses, groom in black. Reception featured chrysanthemums from Kansas City and luncheon.

Tioga Couple Wed in Congregational Parsonage

Miss Mabel Myren and Mr Knute Lee of Tioga North Dakota were married at the Congregational parsonage on November 13 at 1 PM with Rev Henness officiating. Lewie Myren served as best man and Emeline Gregor was maid of honor. Congratulations to the couple.

Flatley Fuss Couple Married at Congregational Parsonage

Michael Flatley and Miss Ida Fuss of Bonetraill wed at the Congregational parsonage Monday evening, with Rev. Henness officiating. They plan to establish residence on their Bonetraill farm, starting their married life on the local property.

Supreme Court reverses two cases and orders new trial

The North Dakota Supreme Court released three March term opinions. In Morri son against Lee the judgment for the plaintiff is reversed and the Ward county district court must enter judgment of dismissal. In Gray against Kerr Land Co. the district court’s judgment is affirmed. In Frankel et al. against Miller et al. the district court verdict is reversed and a new trial ordered.

Wegley Case Dismissed by Justice Gilmore

The Wegley case was dismissed Thursday evening by Justice Gilmore for lack of evidence. The decision ends a case some parties pushed to “get even,” with general satisfaction that there was nothing substantial to bind Wegley over.

Valley County Wins Suit Over Embezzled Funds

Valley County secured a verdict of 8519.12 against U S Fidelity and Guaranty Co in a case arising from embezzled funds by former county official Wm Wofford who vanished years ago. Wofford once lived in the city and was well known among longtime residents.

Two Firemen Killed In Fargo Case Building Fire

In Fargo a morning blaze destroyed the J I Case offices and warehouses. Firemen George M Hartmann and William H White died from collapsing walls. Loss valued at about two hundred thousand dollars with most machinery and contents incinerated. White served thirteen years, Hartmann three, both were married with families. Insurance covers the loss.

Canadian man convicted of bigamy after North Dakota divorce

News from Grand Forks reports William E. Sweitzer, once of Dickinson, convicted of bigamy in Walkerton Ontario. He had obtained a Dickinson divorce after claiming North Dakota citizenship, then married a Canadian woman at Pembina ND and moved to Ontario. Canadian authorities charged him on his first wife’s complaint and ruled the North Dakota divorce invalid. Also notice sale of parlor, bedroom and hall furniture at Frev D. West residence.
