Magnificent Armory to Rise for Co. E with $25,000 cost

Plans call for a grand Armory building for Company E costing about 25 000 dollars, aiming to rival any in the state. The project envisions public stock certificates maturing in three, six and nine years with interest, funded by rents and state support possibly rising to 1000 dollars annually for retirement of stock. The 60 by 120 foot structure would include a full basement gymnasium baths plunges bowling alleys lockers and more, modeled after the Dickinson Armory.

Explosion injures miner at Bruegger Coal mine

A delayed dynamite blast at Bruegger Coal mine, 64 miles northeast of town, severely injured Leo Alger, 28, a single miner. The third explosion tore into his face and right eye, surgery at hospital saved the eye but vision remains doubtful. left eye bruised with no expected vision loss. Alger, a near-mine resident, was rushed for treatment after the incident Saturday noon during blasting.

Truax Children Donate Thanksgiving Dinner Fund

Sunday school kids in Truax collected money to fund a Thanksgiving dinner for the Grant children in the city. States Attorney Braatelien received a letter with $2 to be used for the meal for the unfortunate family’s youngsters. Editor Jack McGarry visited Alexander on Monday evening.

Jury Term Set for December in Local Court

Clerk of Court A H Brown received notice from Judge E B Goss that a district court jury term will be held in the city on December 19 with a panel of thirty petit jurors to be drawn. Fifty criminal cases and about forty civil suits are queued for hearing. rumor says Judge Crawford of Dickinson may preside replacing Judge Goss. The regular petit jurors report December 20 after citizenship matters and calendar are set.

Plan for Enclosed Ice Rink by Hanson Raf Partners

Plan to build a 46 by 140 foot enclosed ice rink with a roof and spectator room on the corner of Fourth Street and First Ave East. H. L. Hanson and Andrew Raf shol seek 75 season ticket subscribers at 5100 for an individual and 8.00 for a couple, many subscribers already secured.

Nash Bros Wholesale building nearing completion after delayed shipment

All material required for Nash Bros Wholesale Company's new building has arrived and work will be pushed to completion. Contractor Horton expects finish shortly after January 1. John Brakken and C. O. Hawg, prominent Rudser citizens, were in town Monday.

International Harvester to Open Williston Branch and HQ

International Harvester Co will establish a large modern branch building in Williston. The site lies in the new wholesale district along the planned spur of the Great Northern railway between First and Second Avenues West. An option has been taken on property, with construction expected to begin once the right of way easements are secured and the site finalized. Williston is seen as a prime distributing center for the northwest with Nash Brothers’ building nearing completion.

Sheriff halts county ring contests ending fight at Gates Opera House

Sheriff Ben Olson refused to permit a Cinnamon Munger prize fight at Gates Opera House last Friday. He cited sections 9089 9094 and 9095 governing prize fights and warned two John Doe warrants could be issued. no fight occurred as parties accepted the notice. The move drew mixed feelings from sporting circles but strong support for enforcing the law.
