Superintendent Porter reports a state wide winter wheat trial using turkey red on seven farms including Page Bismarck New Salem Beach Washburn Flexton and Rugby. Sowing occurred in three days across corn summer fallow and barley stubble with varied results by site. By October three inch plants appeared healthy though barley stubble fields showed poor stands.

Synacy Lutheran Church notes Norwegian services at 11 a.m. Sunday School at 10 a.m. The Ladies Aid meets with Mrs. Kittelson on Wednesday, Nov 24. Thanksgiving evening the Y P S will gather in the church basement for a special program led by Pastor Rey J Wulfsberg.
The B and T club learned the new depot will soon be complete and a grand ball is planned in the new building on November thirty. The old depot will be abandoned and the public welcomed to one of the finest depots in the state. Citizens are invited to attend the opening on November thirty. I G C Ee met Wednesday night at Knights of Pythias rooms and thanked firemen and volunteers for extinguishing the Odd Fellow fire. Black George Buhler and friends spent days in McKenzie county, returning with eight deer after crossing the river with an auto left behind. Barney Hall of Wheelock closes another Williams county real estate quarter, the seventh in two years.
Fire destroyed the upper part of Odd Fellows Hall in Marmon on Tuesday night, burning the roof and upper partitions. Firefighters kept flames from gutting the building as water streams saved the structure. regalia and lodge supplies were lost in the rear storage area while insurance adjusters will determine the loss.
Williston churches plan a joint Thanksgiving morning service at ten thirty in Gates Opera House. The program includes music, invocations by Rev W F Purcell and Rev O D Smith, mayor Bruegger’s proclamation reading, sermons on the growth of the Thanksgiving Spirit and why the nation should be thankful, and a Benediction.
Mesdames Hardaway and H V Smith entertained a group of ladies Tuesday afternoon. Sixty Three was played at nine tables. Mrs Pendrey of Towner and Mrs Schoregge won high score and received handmade handkerchiefs as favors. A luncheon accompanied the game. A second group will be entertained at the Smith home tomorrow afternoon.
