Williams county voters cast about 3,240 ballots on November 7 with Frasier leading unofficial totals for county offices. Wilson, Frasier, and Heghes scarce voted highly while party ballots show President Wilson and Governor totals near 3,000. county aid for the fair was defeated 1486 to.
McKenzie County voters produced the largest tally for McKenzie as she surpassed 2300 votes. Official totals show Williams HK 8652, Wilson 1133, Me sue ber 811, Steer Fisk 1098, Alger 6. Beale and Jeffernay notable in county offices. Randall carried the county for sheriff Metinee with strong support. J Randolph reelected county commissioner in the Bend district. Sam Stubbs of Fairview named commissioner of the 1st district.
The Eleventh District reelects F. E. Fisk with a majority across three counties. Results show Fisk leading in McKenzie and Alger counties, with the total vote across the district giving him the win.
Washington reports that Attorney General Gregory and federal officials prepared to seek injunctions to block enforcement of the Adamson eight hour law. Railroads weigh nationwide court actions potentially totaling about 5,000 cases, with Great Northern filing suit in St. Paul to stop enforcement and protect finances.
Williams County hosts a four day agricultural convention December 12 to 15 in Williston with a robust program. Noted farm authorities, discussions on marketing farm products and topics like sweet clover alfalfa wild oat control potato growing silo beef sire and federal farm loan act are featured. Women’s meetings December 12 and 13 focus on practical farm household problems led by Ida Ratzlaff. A North Dakota style account of Williston territory hospital fundraising reports a total near 50 000 with about 30 000 raised in Williston and 10 000 from surrounding towns. Campaign leaders credit organization and broad community support with completing the goal after a final push by workers, fraternal groups, and volunteers.
President R J Hughes of Wahpeton and D R Carlson of Towner led North Dakota Press Association and Development League Bureau representatives in Grand Forks to plan North Dakota Appreciation Week. An executive committee was elected and the week was set for January 21 to 27 to maximize publicity and farmer reach in the new year.
On November 11 the 1916 high school football squad and friends gathered at the Cutting home to celebrate the season. Coach led the event, with orange and black decorations and a center football centerpiece. Miniature pigskin souvenirs hid football questions for guests to exchange. Toast Master Vettle led a four course turkey dinner and spirited discussion of football books, photos, and clippings.
