Terrible Accident Kills James Costello in Mondak
A work train fatally struck James S. Costello and injured George Wilson near Mondak Monday evening as a wagonload of grain attempted to cross a railroad. Costello died about an hour after being found. Wilson lost his left foot. Costello, 40, a longtime local settler and former county sheriff, left a wife, four children, and siblings.

Death of Baby Gibb in White Earth area
The four month old son of Mr and Mrs Wm Gibb of White Earth died at the Ernest Brownson home in the city last Saturday at 2:30 AM after illness from cerebral meningitis. Funeral Sunday at Brownson residence with Rev Clapp of Fargo delivering the sermon. Relatives from White Earth attended and music was by a quartet. The baby had been sick about six weeks and his death is a heavy blow to the family with many friends offering sympathy.

Meets Death Beneath Wagon At Raum Farm
Ralph Raum who ran the Raum ferry four miles below the city was killed Sunday evening when a grain wagon tipped, one wheel passed over his head, and the horses panicled. Attorney Aaron Bessie, returning from Charlie Howett’s place, witnessed the accident. Coroner Thomas examined the scene Monday. Raum’s body was moved to the Raum home for burial and the funeral was planned for the courthouse with the Eagles in charge. Raum leaves a wife.

Northern Pacific Surveyors Complete Mandan to Williston Run
A large party of Northern Pacific Surveyors finished the permanent survey of the NP right of way from Mandan to Williston last week. The route follows the second bench above high water near the old Raum Ferry landing and runs west of the Black Diamond Coal mine across the Ole Bryn and Zeno Bruegger farms. The muddy is crossed between the present Great Northern bridge and the Missouri River. Connection is made with the G N main line and the B M Co elevator. All curves fills and cuts are being located with work planned to begin early next spring.
