Steamer Rustler Burned To Water’s Edge At Juneau

Victoria reports the Lynn Canal steamer Rustler burned to the water’s edge in Juneau after arriving from Skagway on October 25. No injuries occurred as the vessel was totally destroyed. Also, the battleship Texas was prepared for sea in Norfolk and set to sail for Southern waters.

Robbers Rich Haul From Flathead Indian Wealth

Mont. authorities report Michel the Flathead reservation's wealthiest full blood was robbed of twenty two thousand dollars. Three men disguised as Indians stole a trunk containing one hundred dollar bills and twenty dollar gold pieces from his Camas prairie home while his wife was detained by a helper. A posse of local Indians hunted the thieves but failed to recover the treasure.

In the Black Hills near Lead, bears are plentiful this year with one visiting the Pluma mine outskirts. The bear appeared late at night, thrust its head through the door into the engine room, causing alarm among six workers. They climbed to the boilers and threw coal, prompting the bear to retreat, then rest briefly before vanishing into brush.

Another Monster Dock at Superior Iron Ore Depot
