Reverend Harriss Granted Two Month Church Vacation
The Methodist church board on May 4 approved a two month vacation for Rev Hi Styles Harriss to pursue postgraduate work at the University of Chicago. Dr James J Asher presided with Rev James Hoffmann Batten of the Congregational church to handle duties during absence. Harriss awaits a call from the War Department to serve as chaplain with the first volunteer army, potentially ending Chicago study if activated.
